ICONIC AWARD FOR SCORPIO HOUSE | Media i Nagrody

The Iconic Awards are organized by the German Design Council, an organization established in 1953 by the German parliament. The awards ceremony took place on October 8 at the BMW Welt exhibition center in Munich. This award is a token of appreciation for the subject of shelters taken up by the BXB studio, which is passed over in silence by the architectural community in Poland and also around the world.

The uniqueness of our solution lies in the fact that we have changed the definition of a shelter as an investment made only for the time of danger. Scorpio House is a luxury good that we enjoy every day, similarly to a sports car or a family yacht. Just as a utilitarian ship used for transport, over time, has distinguished a separate category of a luxury product – a yacht, so we raise the utilitarian nuclear bunker to the level of a luxury space in which we realize our passions and dreams.

It is worth mentioning here that there are countries that are able to secure space in shelters for all their citizens. These are Switzerland and Finland. Sweden has such facilities for 70% of the population, Norway for 50% and the geopolitically unfavorable Poland only for 3.8%.

Scorpio House is a project that the entire BXB studio team worked on, including the technical department, creative department, interior design department, and management and administration department. Today, we can confidently say that we are an architectural office specializing in designing not only traditional buildings, houses, and residences, but also shelters.
