The Audio-Visual Eaves Cottage

This house is a continuation of the concept of the Małopolska Podcieniowa Cottage developed by BXB studio.

The horizontal ground floor with a subtly concave facade provides privacy and shelter for the residents from neighboring houses located on the same, municipally designated unobstructed building line. At the same time, such a formed frontal line provides a wide panoramic view of the forest located opposite. Another advantage of such a formed elevation is the creation of an acoustic screen, which reduces sounds coming from neighboring houses while enhancing and concentrating the sounds of nature from the forest in the terrace area. The structural layout of the ground floor as well as the external louvers also refer to the structure of the forest.

Articulated load-bearing pillars stylistically merge with the facade structure, forming an interior visually free from the load-bearing system. The upper floor volume, thanks to its unique load-bearing structure, has a cantilevered overhang extending up to 4m, creating a sheltered area of the terrace hovering above the ground. The sheltered stairs of the terrace, penetrating through the glass, curved pane, subtly divide the interior and the external terrace into two separate zones.
